What is ODIS Service used for?
ODIS Service is the official VAG dealer diagnostic software. It reads and clears fault codes, runs Guided Fault Finding (GFF) procedures, performs module coding and adaptations, resets service intervals, flashes ECU software, and programs immobilizers and keys on VW, Audi, Seat, Skoda, Cupra, Lamborghini, and Bentley vehicles.
What is ODIS Engineering used for?
ODIS Engineering (ODIS-E) provides access to raw ECU parameters, advanced measurement blocks, hex data, and calibration routines not available in ODIS Service. It is used by VAG engineers, emission calibrators, and advanced specialists who need deeper ECU access than the standard service tool provides.
Is ODIS Service 25 the same as ETKA or ELSA?
No. ETKA is VAG’s electronic parts catalogue (EPC). ELSA is VAG’s service manual and workshop information system. ODIS Service is the diagnostic tool. They are separate applications though workshops typically use all three together.
Compatibility
Does ODIS Service 25 work on Windows 11?
The VMware version runs on Windows 11 (64-bit) without issues, as the software operates inside a pre-configured virtual machine. Native ODIS installation on Windows 11 is not supported.
Can I use a VAS 5054A clone with ODIS?
Yes. Compatible VAS 5054A clones work with ODIS Service for fault reading, live data, GFF, adaptations, and module coding. For module flashing on newer vehicles (2019+), a genuine VAS 6154 may be required due to DoIP protocol requirements.
Does ODIS cover Porsche vehicles?
ODIS Service covers some Porsche models, but Porsche primarily uses PIWIS (Porsche Integrated Workshop Information System) for full dealer-level diagnostics. ODIS provides basic access to Porsche models that share VAG group platforms.

Can ODIS Service 25 do DSG adaptation reset?
Yes. ODIS Service supports DSG (DQ200, DQ250, DQ381, DQ500) adaptation resets via Basic Settings. This is essential after clutch replacement, oil change, or mechatronic unit replacement on DSG-equipped VAG vehicles.
Can ODIS program a replacement ECU?
Yes. ODIS Service supports full ECU flashing (software update/replacement) for all VAG modules including PCM, TCM, ABS, airbag, gateway, and instrument cluster — using either VAS 5054A (for most vehicles) or VAS 6154 (for newer DoIP-capable vehicles).
Can ODIS reset the DPF on a TDI engine?
Yes. ODIS Service supports DPF forced regeneration, DPF soot load reset, and associated adaptation resets on all VAG TDI diesel engines via Basic Settings and Guided Functions.
